ZÉ PÉ-DE-SAMBA
when the mutation happened
2003
preferred poison
MPB, samba until dawn, bossa nova always, picanha, bananas (lots of them)
Zé Pé-de-Samba, born in a favela in Rio close to the beach, started dancing from day one to the rhythms of samba and bossa nova. Zé became later a well known mutant dancer in the disco scene of the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Now, he is a mixer and juggler of the hot brazilian tunes. A true ambassador of Brazilian sound, this musician channels the elegance of João Gilberto, the fiery soul of Cartola, and the infectious grooves of Gilberto Gil. Rooted in bossa nova, samba, and MPB, their music bridges tradition and modernity, evoking the sunlit beaches of Jobim's melodies and the rhythmic energy of Jorge Ben. From delicate guitar harmonies to pulsating percussion, every note celebrates the timeless charm and cultural vibrancy of Brazil, echoing the legacy of legends like Elis Regina and Caetano Veloso.
